How to synchronize SharePoint to a Mac? (alternative to SkyDrive Pro client)

SharePoint users can synchronize their documents to Windows with the OneDrive for Business client (not to be confused with OneDrive).

Unfortunately, the OneDrive for Business client is not available on Mac (and Linux), and even if you are on Windows, in addition you must pay for Office 2013 Professional Plus before using it.
Microsoft shows no sign of clemence towards Mac users on this matter.
Using Parallels does not help: My Documents is then seen as a network location, which means that OneDrive for Business fails to save documents there.

The solution is to use CmisSync.
It allows you to sync SharePoint to your Mac.

It works just like Dropbox:
  • Automatically downloads/uploads changes
  • Allows you to work even when offline
  • Smart conflict resolution

The free version works with SharePoint servers that are configured to use Basic Authentication.
CmisSync Business works with SharePoint servers that are configured to use NTLM authentication, and comes with professional support, for 120 USD per user per year.

Enjoy!
